It seems pretty safe to say that a deal for Rajon Rondo is far from imminent, but if there remains a will to do a deal from the Kings side, it won’t be completely off the table. Sure the Celtics top priority isn’t to get rid of their All-Star point guard, and why would it be?

You can’t help but feel that Boston general manager Danny Ainge wants a completely fresh start though, and to build a new team, Rondo may be the last tie with the past left to be cut.

Just what it would take the Kings to get him is a story for different day, and a tough question to answer all in all. If Ainge purely wants to move on, he may not be too concerned with what he gets back.

The reason for that being, that unlike most other franchises in the NBA, the Celtics history alone will always have the potential to attract free agents.

It’s still possible the Kings could get Rondo in a really good value trade, but it just seems that they’ll have to wait a little longer than many in Sacramento hoped.
