A Guide To the Hawks’ Preseason

The Atlanta Hawks finally announced their preseason schedule on Friday, as preparation for the new season jumps up a level around the NBA. Before the season kicks off proper with an opening night visit to Toronto, the Hawks will play through a seven-game schedule that includes four road games and three at home at Philips Arena.

Although these games are all about conditioning and bedding new players into the team’s system, Atlanta will want to give a good account of themselves against strong competition.

Atlanta will face both of last year’s NBA finalists, San Antonio and Miami, on the road. Providing top quality opposition also, Chicago, Memphis and Charlotte, all playoff teams last season, will square off against the Hawks.

Rounding out the schedule for Atlanta is games against the New Orleans Pelicans and  the Detroit Pistons, who behind the development of Anthony Davis, and coaching of Stan Van Gundy respectively, are both expected to make jumps forward this year.
