C – DeMarcus Cousins

The cornerstone of the franchise, the anchor of the team, DeMarcus “Boogie” Cousins is the man that Sacramento need to focus on building a team around. Talent like Cousins’ isn’t easily found in the NBA, and for a traditionally middle of the pack franchise like the Kings, they should be doing everything in their power to take advantage of it.

Perhaps that was the thinking behind the trade for Rudy Gay last season, but in reality the Kings need more than that. Cousins is tied down for three more seasons in Sacramento, and in that time, it’s fair to say the Kings will need to make significant progress. If that doesn’t happen, it’s fair to say Cousins will be moving on to greener pastures.
