PF – Derrick Williams

In all honesty, the race for the starting power forward spot in Sacramento is wide open. Despite only starting 15 games last season, I see Derrick Williams as the man with the edge though. Williams has struggled to live up to his status as a second overall draft pick in his time to date in the NBA, but his attitude has been nothing short of exemplary over the last year or so.

The 23-year-old even made the incredibly rare decision to go to Las Vegas to play in the NBA Summer League as a fourth year player. That’s a decision that will likely go down very well with Sacramento’s coaching staff, as it’s further evidence of Williams desire to improve. His NBA numbers have been solid if unspectacular to date, but maybe 2014 could be the year Williams takes a big leap forward.
