4. Phoenix Suns at Minnesota Timberwolves – Jan. 7, 9:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

This is the game that should be the best of the Timberwolves’ four nationally televised games. I love when ESPN throws games in its double-headers purely for entertainment value, and this one should fit the bill.

The Rubio/Goran Dragic battle here is going to be fun, and the Suns’ open-floor offense and suspect defense should lead to plenty of transition buckets for both sides.

This game could also have some fun narrative built in if the Timberwolves are still competitive this season. The Suns were last year’s “HOW IS THIS HAPPENING???” team, barely missing the playoffs in a year where they looked like they might be the worst team in the Western Conference.

The Timberwolves could be in a similar situation this season, projected to be awful but with the potential to be very competitive. This game would come at a point where, if the Timberwolves started hot, we could draw conclusions on if they were for real, and a nationally televised win over the team that was in their spot last season would be very cool.
