Let Him Walk

This could well be the most painful option of all for Hawks fans. Millsap has quickly become a fans favorite in Philips Arena, but it could all boil down to the Hawks letting him move on.

That would be no personal slight against Millsap, and more of an insight into the mindset of general manager Danny Ferry. As an organization, the Hawks are now focused on winning championships, and every decision they make seems to be wary of taking a backwards step in that process.

If Millsap finds himself playing elsewhere next season, it will be because Atlanta felt his demands were too high relative to what the franchise could achieve with him. Millsap and Horford are outstanding players, but in the end, there’s still a feeling that to really compete, they would have to be the Hawks’ second and third options.

If the Hawks feel Millsap isn’t going to be the guy to bring a championship parade down Peachtree, they could well part ways.
