More Mature Joseph Is Ready For An Increased Role

Cory put up 7.8 PPG, 2.7 APG and 2.5 RPG for February. Joseph’s numbers for November and December this upcoming year should resemble those statistics pretty closely with him likely being the first point guard off the bench for Gregg Popovich.

Bryce Cotton is the only other listed point guard on San Antonio’s roster as of right now. However, Manu Ginobili has been known to bring the ball up at times. Still, it’s Cory’s job to lose.

Joseph might have career averages of 4.2 PPG, 1.6 APG and 1.5 RPG, but his 14.7 PPG per 36 minutes as well as him being only 22 has the Spurs in good hands.

Because San Antonio has the Big Three, Diaw, Leonard and so many other scoring options, it’s okay if Cory sticks with what he does best: knowing his role. Get others involved, play gritty defense and hustle. That in and of itself will get Joseph more playing time next season.
