NBA Power Rankings: All 30 Starting Shooting Guards

3. Dwyane Wade — His Miami Heat
What a sad ending to the dynasty Miami had running, wasn’t it?
Wade doesn’t want to acknowledge it. To him, the story has just continued, with a new chapter being introduced.
The Paleo Diet he’s explored this offseason gives us the only piece of evidence we need: Instead of a new chapter, it’s time to walk to the bookshelf, and find the story titled “2011 Flash.” Once you have it in your grasp, wipe off the five inches of dust laying on top, and crack open that novel from the beginning.
It’s the narrative we need to be getting back into our lives, very soon. Is the world the same without a healthy, capable, and hungry Wade? No, mankind has lost one of it’s best pieces since the 2013 playoffs, where the three-time champion rarely had a standout performance.
Now, losing a gob of pounds, his best player, and one more year off his knees’ lives, he hopes to be back at 100 percent by the end of October?
One thing you need to get in your head before the year starts is that Wade is a member of that special breed that you never count out. With Wade missing 28 games during the regular season due to knee pain, what did we all do? Counted him out. The response? Just a 22.06 PER, placing him second among all shooting guards in 2013-14. That’s easily overlooked these days, I assume?
When Wade is able to get out on the floor, he doesn’t miss most of his attempts, and he attacks the rim in the same manner as he always has. He may never see the same speed he desires even after the weight loss, but that’s a part of age and living, right?
Chris Bosh is the big bad wolf in Miami, but only until Wade feels comfortable claiming what’s his. He’s already won all the bling he needs, now his main goal is to be able to look LeBron and the pubic doubters in the eye to say “Wrong choice.”
