D.J. Augustin’s Story So Far

From the signings he made this summer, it’s clear that Stan Van Gundy wanted to shake things up and add something new in Detroit. Last season, the Detroit Pistons lacked three-point shooting, fluidity and leadership, and as a result, they were terrible. One of the men Van Gundy has brought in to try to begin to turn things around is D.J. Augustin.

The 26-year-old from Louisiana is coming off a career season with the Chicago Bulls, and will offer the Pistons a different type of threat to what they already have in place. Augustin spent the first four of his six years in the NBA with the Charlotte Bobcats, before jumping from the Indiana Pacers to the Toronto Raptors, and then on to Chicago in the time since.

Mostly off the bench, in a sixth man style role, Augustin excelled last year. In spite of being a sub, he logged heavy minutes, and always seemed to make a significant contribution.

Can he carry that over coming into Detroit though, and what will his game offer the Pistons?
