Phoenix Suns: What To Expect From The New Faces
T.J. Warren:
Suns fans should be very excited about the instant offense T.J. Warren will be able to provide coming off the bench in the future. At North Carolina State, Warren averaged 24.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 52.6 percent from the field. In five Summer League games, Warren put up 17.8 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, and that’s including a game where Warren only played seven minutes due to a head injury. In his best three games, Warren averaged 25.3 points and six rebounds per game while shooting 59 percent from the floor.
He’s not a great three-point shooter (26.7 percent from downtown with the Wolfpack last year), and he’ll definitely need to develop that aspect of his game in the NBA. But Warren just has a nose for the basket and possesses a beautiful floater that will be useful for finishing over taller defenders. His offense isn’t always pretty, but he can finish around and through defenders at the basket and he’s used to knocking down midrange jumpers with a hand in his face. Warren might be able to have an immediate impact off the bench in 2014-15.
