Phoenix Suns: What To Expect From The New Faces
Anthony Tolliver:
With Channing Frye‘s departure to the Orlando Magic, the Phoenix Suns lost their deadliest pick and pop threat who meshed perfectly with Dragic and Bledsoe to trump help defenses that were designed to contain the penetration of Phoenix’s guards. Anthony Tolliver isn’t going to singlehandedly replace a talented veteran like Frye, but he brings some of the same stretch-4 qualities that should help Phoenix off the bench.
Frye’s departure honestly means more for Markieff Morris‘ promising future than it does for Tolliver in 2014-15, but he’s a decent passer, rebounder and at 6’8″, he can spread the floor with a respectable three-point shot. He’s only a career 35 percent shooter from three-point range, but he’s shot above 40 percent from downtown in two seasons since 2010-11. If he can provide consistent perimeter shooting off the bench, he’ll have a defined role with this playoff-competitive team.
