Toughness

Nicknamed “Tough Juice,” Butler’s reputation goes before him wherever he goes around the league. This mentality is something the Pistons lacked last season, and Van Gundy will be hoping that Butler’s influence can rub off on all of his players. Not only will Butler never back down from a challenge, but he’s prepared to push his body to its absolute limits also.

The 34-year-old’s desire to win trumps everything else, and on countless occasions in his career he has used his sheer determination to play through injuries for his team. To build a mindset and a philosophy at a team, there always needs to be one player who personifies that, and if the new look Pistons can be built in the image of Butler, they’ll be more than okay.
