ATHLETICISM A PLUS

This builds on the previous mention about the Timberwolves. Great athletes don’t automatically turn into great basketball players, but it certainly helps and it adds a layer that some teams just can’t deal with. Although LaVine might not see the light of day with this team, adding him to this mix of players creates one of the more athletic teams in the NBA. Love was tremendous on the secondary break, spotting up for three, but they won’t miss him when they go balls-to-the-wall in transition.

Watch Rubio’s sick alley-oop to Corey Brewer and imagine having Wiggins on the other wing.

The Wolves will definitely miss Love’s outlet passes, but I could see a Phoenix Suns-style transition game erupting nightly. Without a dominant defensive rebounder, the Wolves will have to sag back to grab those long rebounds, but they can then use their athleticism to get out on the fast break. With Rubio’s vision and finishers of various sizes (Wiggins/Brewer/Young), the Wolves will be in great shape.
