Oklahoma City Thunder: Starting Shooting Guard Options
Option 1: James Harden (sorry I had to) Anthony Morrow
Morrow is a flat-out shooter. That’s why he could be the starting shooting guard for the Thunder. His shooting ability (45.1 percent from 3) allows the floor to be stretched and gives Russell Westbrook and MVP Kevin Durant more space to operate.
Morrow is a huge upgrade offensively over Sefolosha. With Sefolosha in the starting lineup, the Thunder were basically playing 4-on-5 offensively. Teams were content with giving Sefolosha any kind of look. With Morrow in the lineup teams will have to stay glued to him or he will torch them from deep.
Obviously, Morrow is a downgrade defensively, but the Pelicans were 3.7 points better per 100 possessions with Morrow on the floor. He is not as versatile of a defender as Sefolosha, but he is competent as a defender.
His shooting ability gives him a strong case to be the starting shooter come game one.
