5. D.J. Newbill – Senior – Penn State Nittany Lions

Last year D.J. had a higher shooting percentage but his assist numbers dropped considerably in his junior season. His previous season showed 4.0 assists per game compared to 1.7 assists last year. This may be in part due the play of Tim Frazier who was the best player on the team.

Tim had the ball in his hands more often, with the result that Newbill was placed in the role of a scorer. This season Frazier is gone and Newbill is the Nittany Lions best player. The rest of the team may expect him to carry the load. He should have success if he builds on his record of being selected to the Second Team All Big-Ten Team.
