Charlotte Hornets: 1 Area Each Starter Must Improve

Lance Stephenson: Team Play
Lance Stephenson was a hell of a pickup for the Hornets, but his attitude has got to be right if he is going to mesh well with the team.
Stephenson is a fantastic creator for both himself and his teammates, but sometimes, the score-first mindset consumes him and he tries to do too much by himself. He has a unhealthy habit of over-dribbling, going East and West instead of attacking or deferring to his teammates. Even playing alongside one of the league’s best young talents in Paul George, Lance looked like he had to prove that he was running the show.
Now, when he’s hitting shots, this mindset isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The problem is, he’s not always hitting his shots.
Lance is a great passer, and his abilities and upside in that area make him an intriguing prospect for the Hornets. He just needs to understand from day one that the hero-ball isn’t going to cut it with this club, and that if the team is going to win more than 50 games, making the extra pass is going to have to be automatic.
