Walter Tavares

At just less than 7″3′, and hailing from Cape Verde, Tavares was one of the stories of the draft. Having only had a basketball put in his hands five years ago as a 17-year-old, Tavares’ rise has been nothing short of meteoric.

It’s unclear as to whether Tavares will be an active member of Atlanta’s NBA roster this season, but he definitely figures in their future plans. The Hawks will be looking to see the defensive awareness and activity that Tavares is known for, as well as getting a better handle on his offensive game.
