Atlanta Hawks: Summer League Roster Breakdown
By Adam McGee
The State Of The Summer League Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks kick off their 2014 Summer League campaign in Las Vegas on Saturday evening. For many teams, Summer League rosters can bear very little resemblance to what the construction of the full roster will be when November comes around, but that won’t be the case for the Hawks this year.
Atlanta’s roster of 15 players contains six players who can be quietly confident of contributing to the Hawks in the NBA over the next few seasons. The trio of Dennis Schroder, John Jenkins and Mike Muscala have already logged plenty of pro minutes for the Hawks in the big league, while this year’s draft selections Adreian Payne, Lamar Patterson and Walter Tavares will look to do likewise.
The Hawks will be coached by Darvin Ham in Vegas, as he steps in to the lead assistant role this season following the departure of Quin Snyder to Utah. Ham’s team will face off against the Wizards, a D-League Select Team and the Portland Trail Blazers, as well as at least two other games depending on their performance.
So, on that note, let’s take a closer look at what the six notable names on the roster will be looking to achieve in Summer League, as well as a who’s who of the remainder of the squad.
