Detroit Pistons: Aaron Gray Signed As Backup Center
By Adam McGee
Scoring
In the most complimentary way possible, Gray is a limited center. He’s not going to stretch the floor by shooting from the perimeter, or even from outside the paint very often. The fact that Gray understands his limitations means that this isn’t necessarily a bad thing though.
He’s only really going to take high percentage shots from inside the paint, as his career 50.9 percent field goal rate highlights. He’s by no means an elite scorer, but will contribute when on the floor.
For his career, Gray averages 10 points per 36 minutes. He’s no more than an efficient big body offensively, and how much more can a team really want from their backup.
