Atlanta Hawks: Is Thabo Sefolosha A Good Fit?
By Adam McGee
Rebounding
As an NBA swingman, rebounding is never going to be a player’s first priority. Instead, the focus is on generally on a more “3-and-D” style of play.
Saying that, if a team has a guy who is confident and accomplished at grabbing rebounds from the wing, it can give a massive boost to them.
Sefolosha’s rebounding isn’t going to set the world alight, but he should have no problem helping out the Hawks big men with a solid contribution. For his career, Sefolosha has averaged 3.7 rebounds in 23.4 minutes per game.
The Hawks traditionally struggle on the glass, so knowing they have a wing who has both the size and willingness to battle for the ball inside is a real plus.
In the 2008-09 season, Sefolosha averaged 5.2 rebounds per game. If he could approach that number again this season, he’ll be a genuine difference-maker in Atlanta.
