Trying to make a definitive judgement call between these two guys is not particularly easy. Thomas is going to score more points for a team, but Collison might make a greater difference in enough smaller areas to improve the team performance as a whole.

Of course, it’s still not impossible that they play together next season either. If they do, Sacramento will have one of the better point guard rotations in the NBA, but what does that really mean?

It will help the Kings to become a tougher, more consistent opponent, but it’s a long way from the type of move that could transform Sacramento from basement dwellers to contenders. If the likes of Rajon Rondo or Goran Dragic get traded in the coming days or weeks, Kings fans will still sit back and think “what if,” and they’ll be right to as well.
