Charlotte Hornets: 5 Areas Hornets Must Improve
By Jon Shames
4.) Wing Scoring
The Bobcats ranked 23rd last season in points per game, and that was largely due to the lack of scoring in their lineup. Al Jefferson and Kemba Walker were the most important cogs in their offense, and the two of them combined for 39.5 points a night, which was almost 41 percent of the team’s total output. Without either of them on the floor, the whole club loses a major element of attack.
Something has got to improve, and that something has to be the scoring production from their wings. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Gerald Henderson are both fantastic defensive players, but their inconsistent shooting makes them a liability on the other end of the floor on some nights. It’s rumored that the Hornets are pursuing Gordon Hayward and/or Lance Stephenson, and both would certainly help shoulder the load and take some pressure off of Walker and Jefferson.
