1. San Antonio Spurs

You thought the idea of the Oklahoma City Thunder adding Pau Gasol was scary? Just imagine if they added the Spanish maestro to the San Antonio Spurs offense! That team would be absolutely and unequivocally un-guardable. Anyone who watched the Spurs dismantle Miami’s once proud defense in the Finals knows the kind of ball movement San Antonio is capable of. Now replace Tiago Splitter with a superior passer/scorer/everything else in Gasol and you’ve got back-to-back champions.

That might seem like a bit of an overstatement, but San Antonio’s ball movement is already stellar now. Gasol is an expert passer for a big man and defenses would have no hope of stopping him and Tim Duncan on that end of the floor. If Gasol is willing to take a little less money, he can move himself much closer to another championship than he could ever dream of with the Los Angeles Lakers in the future.

Plus, wouldn’t it be fun to watch this team made up almost entirely of foreigners win another title? At that point Duncan could sail off into the sunset and although the Spurs wouldn’t have brought in a free agent to carry the franchise afterward, that’s precisely what Kawhi Leonard is for. With Duncan and Manu Ginobili getting older, and with Patrick Mills out for at least seven months, the Spurs could use the boost of Gasol’s interior game. The league couldn’t, but San Antonio sure wouldn’t mind.
