Elton Brand

Last, but by no means least on this list, is Elton Brand. Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that the Hawks and New York Knicks have both spoken to Brand in these early stages of free agency.

The 35-year-old veteran had a successful season as an impact player in Atlanta last season, and it’s little surprise that the Hawks are looking into the possibility of bringing him back. In just over 19 minutes a game, Brand averaged 5.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks for Atlanta.

As I’ve already mentioned, the Hawks have plenty of frontcourt depth heading into next season, but if Brand is available at a reasonable price, he has other intangibles going for him. Brand provided Atlanta with veteran leadership last year, and with a team that continues to be very young, the Hawks could do a lot worse than bringing EB back again.
