INDIANA PACERS

Quick…name the backup point guard for the Pacers. Correct, George Hill is the starter, but who is the backup? I’m waiting….if you said C.J. Watson, you must be a Pacers fan, because nobody outside of Indiana is proud to say that. The point is, between Hill and Watson, the Pacers have two rotation guys at the very best. As the starter, Hill averaged 10.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game.

The Pacers badly struggled in their offensive sets during stretches of the regular season and certainly during the playoffs. If they had a veteran ball handler who could run the offense, they would have had a real shot to make the 2014 NBA Finals. Instead, they had to depend on Paul George to create his own offense (which he did well), but when he couldn’t get buckets, the Pacers went through awful stretches where big leads shrunk and small leads turned into deficits.
