MIAMI HEAT

There aren’t much better fits for Nelson than the Miami Heat. They need a veteran ball handler who can make open jumpers and can create offense for himself. No offense to Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole, but that’s not either of their strengths. Add to that the fact that the Heat play very good team defense and you can see that Nelson’s deficiencies would be quite hidden.

Nelson played a ton of pick-and-roll basketball with Dwight Howard in Orlando. While the Heat don’t have a player like him to roll to the basket, they do have a guy in Chris Bosh (potentially) that can pick-and-pop. That takes a lot of pressure off of the ball handler, because one of the defenders has to stay home. Against Dwight, they could sag and ensure he didn’t get to the basket unabated. Can’t do that with Bosh.
