2010

John Wall, first overall

Lazard Hayward, 30th overall

Impact guys taken after No. 30: Lance Stephenson

Nemanja Bjelica, 35th overall

OK, we can finally take a deep breath and rejoice–the Wizards did it. They made a solid pick. Wall is the future of this organization and is on a fast track to being one of the top point guards in the NBA, but you can’t give the Wizards THAT much credit for this pick.

No one else in this draft was going No. 1. It was Wall from the tip. I do give the Wizards credit for not trading the pick for two one-year rentals.

I would have liked to see the Wizards get some sort of impact player with the 30th and 35th picks. Neither Hayward and Bjelica played a game as a Wizard. However, there weren’t many other solid players taken after No. 30 so it is hard to really point a finger at the Wizards.
