Heat Trading For Shabazz Napier:

With the No. 24 pick in the draft, the Charlotte Hornets took Shabazz Napier, a player the Miami Heat had been targeting based on LeBron James’ approval of his game. In order to make LeBron happy and make Miami a more attractive free agency destination for their superstar, it appears the Heat are trading for Napier, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

The Heat will send their No. 26 pick, the No. 55 pick and a future second-rounder to the Hornets for Napier. Earlier in the week, reports surfaced that the Heat would be trying to trade up in the draft to acquire Napier, a player LeBron once referred to as “the best point guard in the draft” earlier in the year on Twitter. Napier immediately makes Norris Cole expendable and with Mario Chalmers becoming an unrestricted free agent next week, it’s highly likely this could make him expendable as well.

With the No. 26 pick, the Hornets selected P.J. Hairston. Despite drawing the angst of Twitter for aiding the Heat in their quest to keep LeBron, this is a good pick for Charlotte. For all his off-the-court problems, Hairston is one of the most talented shooting guards in the draft and fills a position of need for the Hornets.
