Center

15th Pick – Jusuf Nurkic

The potential ceiling for Nurkic is exceptionally high, as at only 19, he already looks like a prospect who is capable of contributing immediately in the NBA. Nurkic is already built well enough to compete around the paint in the NBA. He’s skilled enough that he can spin over either shoulder to finish in the post, meaning he offers a dynamic presence around the basket.

Nurkic is uncharacteristically quick for his position and that makes him a truly disruptive presence on defense. Nurkic can break up plays in the passing lanes, steal the ball and run it to the other end of the floor and finish all by himself. The Bosnian is also a strong shot blocker, who’s quick enough to get across and cover from the weak side.

Alternative options include: Mitch McGary, Walter Tavares

43rd Pick – Patric Young

Young is another prospect who is a little raw offensively, but his ability on the defensive end can offer the Hawks something that they’re lacking. Young is already built to compete with the men of the NBA, and his presence, rebounding and shot blocking make him a true force defensively.
