Atlanta Hawks: Best Draft Prospects By Position
By Adam McGee
Point Guard
15th Pick – Tyler Ennis
If the Hawks are thinking of moving Jeff Teague, or have lost fate in Dennis Schroeder, they could do a lot worse than drafting Tyler Ennis. The 19-year-old is one of the few “true point guards” in this draft class, and during his year in Syracuse he showcased all of the tools necessary to excel in the NBA.
Ennis has great court vision, and can make passes that other guards probably wouldn’t even see. He’s an intelligent player, who will be unselfish enough to pass if that’s the best decision, while also confident enough to shoot if that’s the best opportunity that presents itself.
Alternative options include: Elfrid Payton, Shabazz Napier
43rd Pick – Russ Smith
Having impressed in workouts, Smith could surprise people by going late in the first round, but if he goes around the time that’s been projected by most, he’d be a solid pick. Smith is lightning quick, and has the stamina to run up and down the court for a full 48 minutes. Smith has scoring instincts and will drive hard to the rim, as well as being able to knock down his shots.
Alternative options include: Semaj Christon, Deonte Burton
