It’s so close you can almost taste it, though I’m not sure why you’d want to taste a day or an event.

Yes, NBA Draft 2014 is upon us and this Thursday the lives of 60 young men will change forever. Those 60 draft picks will come in, new NBA commissioner Adam Silver will give out hugs and wide smiles, probably pose for a selfie or two and ill-fitting hats will be handed out.

One thing we will not see that we are used to seeing, unfortunately, is Knicks and Nets fans booing their picks (because they don’t have any).

Sixty draft picks will change the lives of young men, but they certainly aren’t the only ones waiting by the phone.

Draft day has been known to bring the crazy out of the NBA and its teams. While also trying to improve their teams for the future, there are those who are looking to make a splash immediately. This requires them to give up some assets and players to other teams in hopes to adapt or perish in this new-look NBA.

Trades are a lot of fun and can be very confusing on draft day. Once it’s announced, you may think you know exactly what’s going on, but then there are details of that trade that later surface you may not have heard on draft night. There’s certain to be a lot of moving and a lot of shaking on Thursday.

When it’s all said and done, will some big name players be moved? Will top draft picks be swapped? Draft night is make or break for almost every team. One false move or one reluctant finger to pull the trigger on a deal and you’re looking for a new job next season.

We’ll take a look at some of the rumored trades that have surfaced in the last week or so, as well as some other ones that could happen during the 2014 NBA Draft.
