4. Scot Pollard

After an effective college career as a Kansas Jayhawk, Scot Pollard was the man that Rick Sund chose to select with the 19th pick of the 1997 draft. Pollard was an eccentric big man, known more for his hairstyles than the quality of his play on the court.

Pollard spent one season in Detroit, where he averaged less than 10 minutes per game. During the following offseason, the Pistons moved Pollard for one year of Christian Laettner, one of many examples of how Detroit failed to value their first-round picks.

Pollard went on to have a lengthy career in the NBA, although he never became more than a rotational role player. In spite of that, Pollard struck gold in 2008 when he earned a ring (as seen above) as part of a championship winning Boston Celtics team.
