The Trade:

So let’s assume the Warriors wise up and are able to put together a deal of Lee, Barnes and Thompson for Love and Kevin Martin. Let’s say that the Dubs have to slightly gut their current roster in this way in order to pair Curry and Love in a superstar tandem. That means the Warriors still have their defensive anchor Andrew Bogut, a terrific perimeter shooter who can fill Thompson’s shoes in Martin, a perennial glue guy and superb wing defender in Andre Iguodala and a rising role player in Draymond Green.

That’s an upgrade from this current roster, especially when you remember we’re talking about KEVIN FREAKING LOVE (watch the video above if you don’t understand what that means). The trade also works for Minnesota, who would be getting two young wing players with tons of potential, a solid power forward replacement (albeit it on a big contract) and the rights to swap picks in 2015 and (most likely) 2016. The Wolves aren’t going to get a trade that gives them full value in return for Love, but that’s really never possible when dealing a superstar.
