That year, the Raptors also held the 20th pick and they used it to select Kareem Rush, a guard from the University of Missouri.

However, Rush never suited up for the Raptors as he was immediately traded along with Tracy Murray and a 2003 second-round pick for Lindsey Hunter, Chris Jefferies and a 2003 second-round pick.

Rush had an outstanding NCAA career. In three seasons at the collegiate level, he averaged 18.9 points on 44.5 percent shooting in 30.2 minutes of action. This made him a very intriguing pick for Raptors fans, but apparently he was nothing more than a trade chip — and perhaps one that the Raptors could have used more wisely.

Rush’s success in college did not end up translating to success in the NBA, though, and the now 33-year-old has not played in the league since the 2009-10 campaign.

He holds career averages of 6.4 points on 40 percent shooting in 346 contests.
