4. Improvement Now and in the Future

The Lakers are trying to bring in talented players that will help them compete this coming season, but they also understand that they need to start preparing for life without Kobe. Adding Stephenson to the roster would be a perfect balance of both of those goals, and could potentially be their future at shooting guard. It is likely that the Lakers would start both Stephenson and Bryant at the shooting guard and small forward positions, but there simply aren’t too many years left for Bryant. Stephenson may not be a superstar at this point in time, and he may never end up becoming one, but his potential hasn’t come close to being met yet.
