Atlanta Hawks: Mike Muscala 2013-14 Season Review
By Adam McGee
Atlanta Hawks rookie Mike Muscala could have been forgiven for thinking that he wouldn’t get a chance to play in the NBA this season. After being drafted by the Hawks in the second round, Muscala was sent to Spain to develop his game in a professional environment.
Playing for Obradoiro, Muscala was one of the top performers in the reputable Liga Endesa, leading the league in rebounds, while ranking top 10 in points. When Al Horford and Gustavo Ayon suffered season-ending injuries, Muscala’s impressive play in Spain was enough to convince Hawks general manager Danny Ferry to recall him stateside.
When he did find himself back in Atlanta, Muscala was a solid contributor too. The former Bucknell Bison played in 20 games as the Hawks finished the season strongly to make the playoffs. When everyone returns to health, what will the future hold for Muscala though?
Let’s take a look back at his season and see.
