Why he’s the pick: Like Stauskas, McDermott is an elite 3-pointer shooter. He brings a bit more of an all-round scoring punch than the typical 3-point specialist as well. McDermott has a high basketball IQ, so fitting him into a fast=paced offense should be no problem. At the worst, he’s a very good shooter than can fill a need for the team; at best, he’s a complimentary scorer that can take pressure off of Kevin Love late in games.

Why he’s not:  Also like Stauskas, McDermott is a questionable defender at best. He lacks NBA athleticism, so it’s unclear how he will be able to guard superior talent at the next level. He also does not have a clear-cut position in the NBA, further complicating his transition to the league. Not sure he will ever be more than a shooter for a club at the next level.
