Atlanta Hawks: Paul Millsap 2013-14 Season Review
By Adam McGee
Rebounding
Millsap has always been a tremendous rebounder. During his time with Louisiana Tech, Millsap led the NCAA in rebounding for three straight seasons. As the Hawks have been a very poor rebounding team for years, this part of Millsap’s game was a particularly welcome addition for Atlanta.
Although the injury to Al Horford prevented the team from getting the sort of rebounding boost they desired, Millsap still did an excellent job of controlling the ball off the glass. Only twice in his career has Millsap rebounded the ball better, and his 8.5 boards per game were key contributors in the Hawks making the playoffs.
Millsap is excellent at boxing out, and then quickly dropping the ball off to his guards to initiate transition offense. While on the offensive end, his 2.1 offensive rebounds per game provided his team with extra possessions and, in turn, points.
