Phoenix Suns 2013-14 Player Grades: P.J. Tucker
Lowlights:
Unfortunately, for all the improvements Tucker made with his corner three-point shooting, the rest of his game was pretty inconsistent. Tucker averaged a career high 9.4 points per game this season, but he had his fair share of duds where he just couldn’t connect despite taking a high number of shots. Against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Feb. 25, Tucker pulled down a season-high 15 rebounds, but he went 2-for-11 from the floor to finish with six points in a loss.
In the four games prior to that, Tucker had shot 40 percent or worse. If you scroll through Tucker’s game log for the 2013-14 season, you’ll see plenty of 1-for-8 or 2-for-7 kind of nights, which is a testament to his still-developing offensive game. Tucker will never be a major offensive weapon, but if he can develop his shot to be a touch more consistent, it’ll go a long way for the Suns, who hope to lock him up to a new contract in free agency this summer.
