The Van Gundy Fit

Although Jerebko will definitely have work to do on the defensive end if he really wants to gain SVG’s trust, a lot of what Jerebko does best have generally been key components of a Van Gundy system.

The three point shot is one of the centerpieces of an SVG offense, and he’s particularly fond of agile forward’s, and stretch four’s. Looking back to Van Gundy’s time in Orlando, Rashard Lewis, and one of Van Gundy’s all-time favorites, Hedo Turkoglu come to mind.

Although Jerebko hasn’t shown himself to be as skilled a ball handler or passer as Turkoglu, they have strikingly similar body types. With Jerebko’s rebounding and long distance shooting, who’s to say he can’t become Van Gundy’s Hedo Turkoglu in Detroit next season?
