Golden State Warriors 2013-14 Player Grades: Andrew Bogut
Highlights:
Bogut typically doesn’t come to mind when you think of flashy players, but anyone who watched the Warriors regularly this season will tell you differently. Turnovers are one key flaw this Golden State team had this year, but part of what made the Dubs so entertaining to watch was their reckless abandon with flashy passes. When they didn’t work, it was most likely a turnover. But when they did work, it was beautiful to behold. Bogut’s love for behind-the-back passes exemplifies this perfectly.
He also jumpstarted Golden State’s offense many times with a defensive rebound or, in more exciting instances, a nasty swat that ignited a fast break opportunity. Bogut also had his fair share of posterizations this season, like when he singlehandedly let the world know that Tristan Thompson could be heading the way of “draft bust.” Plus, who could forget what he did to poor JaVale McGee last year in the playoffs? There’s no question when this guy’s healthy he can attack the basket with authority.
Bogut had a couple of stellar performances in 2013-14 as well. At the end of January, Bogut followed up a 14-point, 17-rebound, three-block performance in a win against the Clippers with 16 points, 17 boards, five assists and three blocks the following night in a win against the Utah Jazz. He shot 15-for-22 in those two games while committing only two turnovers. However, as far as individual highlights are concerned, the crown jewel of Bogut’s season was a nice bit of improvisation on an errant Curry pass:
