As I’ve already mentioned, Jenkins was a prolific shooter at Vanderbilt, not only from behind the arc, but also from 2-pointers and the charity stripe. For his three years in college Jenkins shot 52.1 percent on 2-pointers, and 85.6 percent on free throw attempts.

In his rookie year, Jenkins shooting wasn’t eye catching, but at the same time, for a shooter that was making the adjustment to the pro game, they were very promising. The Tennessee native shot 38.4 percent from deep as a rookie, 44.6 percent from the field overall, and 84.3 percent from the line.

This year, he may have made all four of the free throws he attempted, but his number elsewhere dropped considerably–38.1 percent from the field and 22.2 percent on 3-pointers, was certainly not what the Hawks had bought into. Many of Jenkins attempts this season seemed to come up short, and he rarely looked in rhythm. That could be purely down to the struggles Jenkins had with his back injury, but if it remains a trend when he’s healthy, the Hawks patience will likely run out fast.
