Atlanta Hawks: Al Horford 2013/14 Season Review

Scoring
Horford is one of the most dynamic scoring big men in the NBA. Not only is he a commanding finisher around the rim, but he has mastered a shooting form that makes him almost automatic with mid-range jumpers.
In his 29 games this season, Horford averaged a career high 18.6 points per game. The 27 year old has always been more about efficiency than volume, but this season he showcased that more than ever. Only in his rookie year, where he shot 49.9 percent, has Horford’s field goal percentage dipped below 50, but this season he set a new career high mark at 56.7 percent.
Another intriguing factor of Horford’s scoring ability to look out for upon his return is the three point shot. For a guy who excels at long jump shots, Hawks fans have often wondered why Horford didn’t attempt more threes. This season he may have only attempted eleven of them, but he made four, for a percentage of 36.4. Don’t be surprised if coach Mike Budenholzer encourages Horford to do more of this, as he did with Millsap this season.
