Jump Shooting

Elton Brand is still capable of scoring the basketball in a number of ways, and he’s about as reliable as they come for the Hawks.

Always a good shooter, Brand went above and beyond his own standards this season, setting a new career high field goal percentage. That 53.9 percent mark was of course due to a lot of layups and dunks from in close, but a part of Elton Brand’s game that often gets overlooked played just as big a part.

Brand is an excellent jump shooter, and particularly lethal from 8-16 feet, with his favored spot being around the free throw line. 27.7 percent of Brand’s field goal attempts this season came from this spot on the floor, and he made 52.2 percent of them. After Al Horford went down injured, Brand provided the team with an alternative big man pick-and-pop play that was just as effective.
