Atlanta Hawks: Elton Brand 2013-14 Season Review
By Adam McGee
Rebounding
Rebounding is an area in which the Hawks can often struggle, but Brand offered them a hungry and commanding presence while boxing out.
In his 19.4 minutes per game, Brand grabbed 4.9 rebounds, including 1.3 on the offensive glass. Adjusted per 36 minutes, which matches up with the increased role that Brand was often forced to step into during the season, his rebounding numbers jump to 9.7.
What’s most impressive with Brand is his consistency though, and any time the opportunity to grab a rebound presented itself, he was likely to get it. According to SportVU’s player tracking data, Brand secured 62.2 percent of the rebounding opportunities that came his way, with 34.8 percent of them being contested also.
