At the moment there can be little argument that Andre Drummond is the player that the Pistons should look to build their future around. He can rebound, he can score, and as he continues to gain NBA experience, it would be expected that his defense will improve.

Van Gundy and Drummond could well be a match made in heaven, too. In Miami, SVG built a team that would go on to win a championship around Shaquille O’Neal, while Dwight Howard was the focal point of his Magic team that made the Finals in 2009.

It’s clear SVG likes both his offense and defense to be designed around a dominant big man, and there’s no reason why he can’t mold Drummond into being the best center in the league.
