Pero Antic: End Of Season Review
By Adam McGee
Shooting
The biggest strength of Antic’s game is his shooting range. As a guy who is just under 7 feet and incredibly willing to shoot the 3-pointer, he’s a matchup nightmare for teams all around the league. There was no better illustration of this than the recent playoff series with the Pacers, as Antic’s versatility made the already struggling Roy Hibbert begin to crumble.
Despite all the problems his presence on the floor alone can cause opposition teams, Antic didn’t in fact shoot the ball well post All-Star break. Whether there’s a connection between that slump and his injury is hard to tell, but prior to the break the Macedonian was shooting 42.8 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from downtown, while afterwards these numbers dropped to 41 percent and 29.3 respectively.
The biggest focus for Antic going forward has to be to continue to shoot, even when he’s going through a slump. Antic is blessed with a tremendous ability to pump fake, but in the latter part of the season he was definitely overusing it. Antic has the range, so when he gets the chance to shoot he needs to do it.
