DALLAS MAVERICKS 113, San Antonio Spurs 111
Game 6, Western Conference First Round
Monta Ellis scored 12 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter as the eighth-seeded Mavericks pushed the NBA’s best team in the regular season to a Game 7 in the first round. The teams play Sunday in San Antonio.

Dallas took the lead for good with 4:57 remaining on a 3-pointer by Ellis and pushed the lead to eight points at 102-94 on a driving layup by—who else—Ellis with 2:59 left.

San Antonio made a run, taking the Dallas lead to one on Tony Parker’s reverse layup with 49.9 seconds to go, but Vince Carter made a pair of free throws and DeJuan Blair—back from his suspension in Game 5—picked off a pass from Parker for a steal and made one of the two free throws to push the lead back to four points. Patrick Mills’ 3-pointer with 7.9 seconds left cut the final margin to two, but never officially got off a final shot after the Mavericks turned the ball over. Mills’ final shot off an inbounds play with 0.4 seconds left was ruled to have come after the buzzer, but it was off target anyway.

Dirk Nowitzki added 22 points for the Mavericks and Blair came off the bench for 10 points, 14 rebounds and four steals.

Parker led the Spurs with 22 points, Tiago Splitter added 19, Danny Green tossed in 17 and Tim Duncan had 16. Kawhi Leonard finished with 12 points and three steals.
