Phoenix Suns 2013-14 Player Grades: Shavlik Randolph
Lowlights And Highlights:
Is it fair to really dish out lowlights for a player like Randolph, who only played more than 16 minutes once in 14 games? Probably not. Randolph had a couple of plays here or there that clearly demonstrated he’s not meant to be a part of the Phoenix Suns’ long-term rebuilding plans, but he never did anything bad enough to warrant any kind of significant analysis or insight into his flaws. If anything, his biggest lowlight is not being able to crack a rotation featuring youngsters Plumlee and Len in the frountcourt.
Randolph’s finest game of the season came in his second showing with the Suns, where he posted nine points and three rebounds in 14 minutes in a losing effort against the Los Angeles Clippers. Randolph shot 3-of-4 from the field and finished with a team-high plus/minus differential of +18. It was a tad unfortunate Randolph could never deliver on the early promise he displayed in that game, but it should serve as a reminder of why the Suns may choose to pay $1.2 million next year to keep this veteran around next season.
