Let’s not beat around the bush here: there’s a reason Randolph hasn’t stuck with an NBA team for longer than three seasons. In 125 career games, Randolph has made exactly two shots outside of the paint. For reference, volunteers for the Oklahoma City Thunder’s halftime entertainment have made more half court shots in the past year than Randolph has made from outside the paint in his entire NBA career. Sure, it’s hard to fault a guy who has only taken 252 shots in his entire career for not rushing to develop an outside jumper, but it’s still pretty evident teams only have to worry about Randolph in the paint.

Though he’s shot a respectable 47.6 percent from the field, Randolph’s free throw shooting is on Dwight Howard levels at a mere 54.7 percent. For a guy who has taken nearly 97 percent of the shots in his career in the paint, not being able to convert from the free throw line when big men inevitably foul to avoid giving up easy buckets doesn’t exactly give Randolph a ringing endorsement.
